3 x Organic Traffic in 6 months for Uppbeat.io

Our Directioneer was asked to assess Uppbeat's current organic position with a view to helping them unlock the next level of growth. As a challenger brand in the competitive Royalty Free Music world, they were looking to grow aggressively when we first met.

Organic growth case study graph

That graph up there looks pretty impressive right? Almost like the perfect graph for a case study of organic traffic growth you'd find online? Well we can assure you that this is genuine data taken from AHrefs (you can go look it up yourself) for the time period we've been working (so far) with Uppbeat.io

A Strategy to Showcase their Ever Growing Catalogue

Uppbeat.io have a fantastic catalogue of music and sound effects (SFX) across all genres you can think of. The issue was that we weren't making it easy for Google to access it all regularly and quickly.

Through a combination of poor JavaSscript client side rendering and low internal linking ratios, Google found it hard to get to the deep juicy bits of the site. This meant Google didn't see the site as the expert and authority it is.

We rebuilt the site in next.js with server-side rendering and a redesigned linking system for their SFX content. This gave Google fast loading pages that contained links to the deep and juicy sections of the site. In a matter of weeks rankings blew up, with organic traffic growing consistently for the first time in months.

This core approach of showcasing their catalogue to the fullest extent has provided the blueprint of success as we've further expanded SFX content and opened up a continuous improvement workflow for PageSpeed and Core Web Vitals work.

Why this works

The Directioneer has built trust across the business from the directors to the developers. This trust has fostered an SEO first approach to how new initiatives are launched.

Enhancing Existing Processes to Maximise Growth

Alongside the core strategy and technical work above, our Directioneer has also been consulting on their existing blog and content strategy.

The content world of Royalty Free Music & Sound Effects is extensive, with the main customer base using Uppbeat's product across the whole social media base. With Uppbeat wanting to be THE go to platform for creators, their content has to do a damn good job of helping them create.

Their content team already do a fantastic job of helping creators but needed a helping hand incorporating the SEO elements they need to rank better for the search terms their customers are using. Our Directioneer built an optimisation plan with the content team that helped pass the SEO knowledge into their existing process.

By providing monthly examples of where existing blog posts could be improved and talking this through with the team, our Directioneer was able to pass on the key elements of what worked well in their niche to help them improve rankings. This led to a change in strategy where each week a new article is written (with this guidance) and the old one that was reviewed is rewritten to incorporate the advice.

This has led to a 33% increase in the number of keywords that the blog ranks for in positions 1-3 (they are the positions that really drive traffic) and 30,000 more sessions than 12 months ago!

We're Not Done Yet.

We've recently agreed a 12 month extension to this project to deliver SEO consultancy across all planned growth initiatives.
